Metro Detroit/Ann Arbor people: I’m thinking about going to the Airshow at Willow Run this weekend. Good show? Worth it?

I’ve only ever heard good things about that show, but just looking at the performer list makes it a no-brainer for me. There’s some vintage iron in that show that I’d love to see and add to my life list. I’d go in a heartbeat, but then again, I’m an air show junkie.

Awesome show I was there last year with VIP tickets through my wife’s company. Link to my story about it from last year

If you’re not there though, or it starts later, stop up to Lingenfelter C&C

Ohhhhhhhhhhh. You just really made me think about that C&C. If the Lingenfelter is Saturday morning, the airshow is Sunday. Could be a Heck of a weekend.

I try not to be a cheap bastard. I’ve paid a lot more for these sorts of things. But with my 3 year old in tow, I’m inclined to look for shade constantly. Plus, I’m a bit of a ginger myself. Is there great shame in parking at a nearby business with lunch for myself and my little dude, then leaving whenever I please for free, in air-conditioned and shaded comfort?

Yes we are lucky. I try to be grateful that there is a show here.

My father worked there from 94-97, but can’t tell you anything about it now.

No shame at all, what ever works for you, as a kid we used to go to a restaurant right off base to see the flying part of the airshow so we didn’t have to deal with no shade and tons of people.

Great show. I went a few years ago. They had a B2 fly over a couple times. Scariest thing I’ve ever seen.
